A word to the educationists

I read a news yesterday that there is a proposal to increase the no of years for B.Ed. from one to two. This is intended to reinforce the quality of teachers and their pedagogy. As a teacher I welcome the efforts of enhancing the quality of teachers.

But I do have a suggestion regarding this.

Nowadays the Central Board, Kendriya Vidyalayas, CBSE and all other board of education have begun conducting recruitment exams for teachers. They have to appear another exam CTET or TET or TRB et al.

The above are all written exams. When you conduct written exams, why can't they be incorporated into the B.Ed. or D.T.Ed syllabus and exams. You can make it mandatory paper for all and finish it off at a stretch saving lots of pains from all around. These gradings, certificates or any other technical aspects can be taken care of at a go.

But my doubt is otherwise. Sorry to say this. When I can suggest it, so called wiseacres of the education department must also have thought about it. But is it deliberately avoided to incorporate such a paper in the syllabus of teacher training? Is the reason only for improving quality or increase the quantity of corruption. Nowadays it is very sad that corruption plays an important role in the field of education also. Recently a news was flashed in a daily about a particular education officer. It is disgusting to see it.

Moreover a person who has done well in any such written exam need not turn out to be a good teacher. I have seen excellent teachers in my life who have not been so good at appearing for such exams and come out with flying colours. I am myself not ashamed to confess that I might be a failure in such written exam. But I have proved my worth as a teacher in all fronts.

How can we reduce such gaps and bring about practicability in all fronts?

I shall come back with more such points of view later. Meanwhile please send me your ideas on these.

Thank you.
